Founded in 1953, Wilec is Africa’s largest manufacturer and supplier of input materials and technical solutions to the electric rotating machine, transformer and general industries. We have 3 operating divisions:

Electrical - conductor, insulating materials, Continuously Transposed Conductor/Cable (“CTC”) and complementary products for the rotating machines and transformer industries.

Mechanical - bearings and ancillary products for motors and general industry.

Industrial - adhesive tapes and specialty films for the DIY, hardware and graphics industries.

Extensive capital investment by new ownership ensures that Wilec stays at the forefront of the industries in which it operates, and in-house conductor manufacture, slitting, fabrication and machining facilities ensure that local content is maximized. Wilec has constructed a CTC plant, a first of its kind in Africa to respond to the need for improved transformer performance to meet today’s energy demands. A 50 CTC strand manufacturing machine, sourced from the world leader in CTC machines in Italy, has been installed in a customised building and facility to ensure the highest adherence to best manufacturing practices. The line can cater for all permutations of CTC construction including netting, Cordex and perforated papers.
